Kieran Tierney won’t be following Brendan Rodgers out the door to Leicester City- or be departing Celtic by text message!

When the Irishman made his hush-hush move to Leicester he opted to inform his ‘friends for life’ by text message rather than speak face to face with the players he had worked with for almost three years.

Unlike Rodgers Tierney has spent all of his professional life with Celtic, growing up as a fan and going to watch matches at every opportunity.

The rumours of a move south for a reunion was the most natural reaction to the departure of Rodgers but KT has heard speculation before and won’t be jacking in his status at Celtic for life in the middle of the EPL with a manager who could soon be giving his life to any club offering a bigger salary.

It’s natural that he will be linked with players from his old club but it’s nothing I know of,” the Celtic defender told The Sun.

I’ve been on the end of speculation for a few transfer windows so it’s nothing different for me. It doesn’t take my mind off Celtic.”

Looking back at a whirlwind fortnight Tierney added: “It all happened so quickly and there was shock. It surprised everybody. He texted the boys after he left and wished us all the best.

We thank him for all he has done as he’s helped me become a much better player.

The fans are hurting. That’s quite clear to see but I think we now need to focus on Celtic. What’s done is done.”

Tierney signed a long term contract with Celtic, keeping him at the club until 2023.

Whether he sees that contract out remains to be seen but when he does move on it’s likely to be after Celtic have attempted to complete a tenth successive title.
