Scott Sinclair could leave Celtic for FREE in the summer.

It had been assumed that the free scoring winger was on a four year contract but according to a report in The Sun it is just a three year deal with the club having an option to extend that by 12 months.

With half a dozen first team players expected to move on in the summer it would seem a formality to trigger the extra year in Sinclair’s deal but according to The Sun the winger is still in the dark about his future.

SunSport understands the frontman — who turns 30 later this month — is awaiting word from Hoops chief executive Peter Lawwell on a year’s option the club hold on him.

Sinclair, a 25-goal player of the year in his debut 2016-17 campaign and with 17 goals this term, could ultimately leave Parkhead this summer on a free transfer.

After joining Celtic on the eve of the 2016/17 SPFL season for £3.5m Sinclair came off the bench to score the winning goal on his debut at Tynecastle and went on to scoop all of the main Player of the Year awards.

Although he had an indifferent start to this season he has scored two hat-tricks since Christmas to take his total for the season to 17.

It would seem to be a formality for Celtic to activate the extra season on his contract regardless of who the manager is with Leicester an obvious destination for the winger who turns 30 later this month.

Sinclair has also played under Brendan Rodgers at Chelsea and Swansea with both men represented by Stellar Football Ltd.
