Oliver Burke has delivered a dismissive verdict on Brendan Rodgers.

The former hoops boss spent the last few weeks of his time at Celtic drooling over another wonderful young player that he could develop, claiming that the on-loan West Brom player was one of the fastest in Europe. Then, apparently overnight Rodgers ditched it all for the bright lights of Leicester City.

In his brief career Burke has already played for Nottingham Forest, RB Leipzig and West Brom as well as at u-21 and full level for Scotland.

Managers come and go with the 21-year-old offering little more than a shrug of the shoulders over the dramatic departure of Rodgers last week.

As long as I’m playing football and enjoying myself I don’t care who the manager is,” Burke told The Sun.

“I wouldn’t say I was disappointed that Brendan has gone. Personally I’m still happy here. I’m enjoying my football. It’s a massive club with great fans.

I still feel I can learn a lot from the new manager and I’m looking forward to working under him.”

Burke has already made more appearances for Celtic than he has for West Brom and RB Leipzig, starting both matches under Neil Lennon.

After a two year absence he is expected to be recalled to the Scotland international squad for this months European Championship ties with Kazakhstan and San Marino.

Having cost combined fees of £25m in his career it’s unlikely that Burke’s move to Celtic will be made permanent but it’s clear that he is enjoying the opportunity to get regular football for the first time since leaving Nottingham Forest in 2016.
