Leading golf caddie Craig Connelly was among those taking Tom English to task after BBC Scotland’s chief sports reporter criticised Neil Lennon’s celebrations at Dens Park.
After watching Odsonne Edouard score in the sixth minute of stoppage time the caretaker Celtic boss ran towards the hoops fans in the Bob Shankly Stand to celebrate. He didn’t pass any Dundee fans or gesture at any.
It seems that a genuine moment of joy for the Irishman was a bit too much for English who spent Saturday watching Hamish and Angus egg chasing at Twickers.
Hmmm. Way over the top, this. https://t.co/XQ8w9e3RJJ

No rage, just a touch of curiosity Celtic manager celebrating a win over Dundee like he’s just beaten Man City. Seriously?

When Rangers react like that to a win over a relegation struggler Celtic fans take the piss out of them

Touched a nerve with a few Celtic fans I think. Neil Lennon celebrating like he’s just beaten Guardiola’s Man City instead of relegation strugglers Dundee is a touch embarrassing. That’s all. Celtic fans very quick to mock Rangers when they do the same.

Thought it was too much. Celtic people wouldn’t like it if Gerrard does the same in the (unlikely) event of a Rangers win at Parkhead at the end of the month

Here’s the the thing, though, Craig. If Rangers win and Gerrard does exactly what NL did today, Celtic people would go ballistic. We both know it

????????
— Tom English (@TEnglishSport) March 17, 2019
Sorry, I’ll correct that. You’d applaud generously and shrug philosophically as a joyous Gerrard gallops up the Celtic Park touchline ????????

Only someone totally divorced from the drama and excitement of front line sport would pick fault with Lennon’s celebrations.
A month ago his managerial career seemed in the balance after his departure from Hibs left more questions than answers.
Being brought in as caretaker to the club that he set off in the direction of eight successive titles would have seemed far fetched, in sport strange things happen but for one state funded reporter Lennon’s joy seemed to hit a very raw never.
Connelly was the long term caddie for Martin Kaymarm including his 2010 USA PGA triumph, had a spell with Paul Casey and is now the caddie for Branden Grace from South Africa.
