Image for Lennon gets rare international injury boost

Celtic have finally been handed an injury boost with Dedryck Boyata playing the full 90 minutes for Belgium in their 3-1 win over Russia in a European Championship qualifier.

The defender missed Sunday’s 1-0 win over Dundee due to a thigh strain but appeared to be back to full fitness for international duty, slotting into a three man defence alongside Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld.

With Filip Benkovic continuing his recovery from injury at Lennoxtown and Kris Ajer suffering a head knock at Dens Park Neil Lennon will have to assess his defensive options next week ahead of the Glasgow derby.

Despite his Champions League experience with Lyon Jason Denayer was left on the bench for the clash between the top two seeds in European Championship Group 1.

On Sunday Belgium travel to Cyprus who opened their campaign with a 5-0 home win over San Marino to top the group on Match Day 1 ahead of Kazakhstan.
