Neil Lennon hit out at the Hibs thugs that threw missiles at Scott Sinclair during Celtic’s 2-0 Scottish Cup win at Easter Road.

Taking a corner in the second half a bottle of Buckfast flew past the winger as he prepared to take a corner in full view of Police and stewards.

Referee Willie Collum went over to hand the bottle to a steward with no action being taken by the Police and stewards at the corner of the pitch that separated both sets of supporters.

Speaking to Premier Sports Lennon said: β€œIt’s got to stop, it’s not confined to one individual ground. The players, officials and management staff should be protected. It’s their environment they entertain in and it’s not on.”

Soon afterwards a coin narrowly flew past Sinclair as he prepared to take a corner in front of the same section of the ground.

On the pitch Celtic won 2-0 thanks to two second half goals from James Forrest and Scott Brown to book a place in the last four of the Scottish Cup.

It brought to a halt a remarkable week for Celtic where they overcome a change in management to pull off victories at grounds they lost at earlier in the season.

Hibs next match is on Friday at home to the club from Ibrox with all eyes on what action will be taken to ensure that there is no repeat of the missile throwing events of today.
