Neil Lennon is hoping to give Scott Allan some game time but it WON’T be against Dundee on Sunday.
The midfielder has had an incredibly complex career summed up by four seasons at Celtic that will see him leave the manager he signed for in January to return to Hibs.
Last season Allan and Lennon were taking Hibs to new heights as they pushed for second place in the SPFL before the midfielder returned to Celtic.
No sooner had the 27-year-old signed a pre-contract deal to rejoin Hibs in the summer than Lennon was departing Easter Road with the two men enjoying another ‘ships in the night moment’ with Celtic.
After playing in three successive Reserve League matches Allan missed Monday’s 3-2 win over Hearts prompting speculation that he was ready for a rare first team outing but Lennon won’t be rushing the player who spent last season on loan at Dundee and Hibs.
“I’d like to give Scott Allan some game-time between now and the end of the season but at the moment I can’t risk him because there’s a chance he could break down,” the caretaker Celtic boss told The Sun.
“He’s played a few development games but I’d like to give him a little run if the opportunity comes along. He’s training well and having a go at it but he’s in a difficult position.”
With Callum McGregor back in full training Lennon has an additional midfield option with Olivier Ntcham and Tom Rogic both nearing full fitness.
