Neil Lennon has admitted that there are concerns over Kieran Tierney’s fitness.

The defender was pictured training with his Celtic team-mates yesterday morning but at his lunchtime media conference Lennon admitted that there had been a set-back.

It seems that for a number of months Tierney has been working off a number of knocks which seem to have caught up with him.

After the Europa League tie with RB Salzburg he was ruled out due to a pelvic concern but did make the bench for the end of year match at Ibrox.

It was February 24 before he returned to action, in the 4-1 win over Motherwell before playing a further four matches then heading to Kazakhstan with Scotland.

Reports of a calf injury and ankle problem have surfaced since he missed the Scotland double header with Lennon providing a little more detail in The Sun.

He probably needs a rest. We’ll try and get him over the line as quickly as possible, then shut him down for a while. We’ll be guided by the medical team.

Tierney will be assessed by Celtic’s medical team today but it looks more likely that Jonny Hayes will start tomorrow which could see Lennon switch to a 3-5-2 formation for a game where a win will make the remainder of the SPFL campaign much more straightforward.
