Alex McLeish will lean stronger on ever on Celtic players for Scotland’s match against Kazakhstan after Andy Robertson pulled out of the trip to go to the dentist!

The Liverpool full-back was bombing up and down the wing as usual yesterday against Fulham but has been pulled out of Thursday’s match due to an abscess in his mouth according to a report in The Sun.

Any prospect of Kieran Tierney being rested from Thursday’s outing on a plastic pitch have now been dashed with the Celtic defender set to replace Robertson at left-back.

As well as Robertson opting out McLeish took sick note calls yesterday from Charlie Mulgrew, Barry Bannon and Jordan Archer as English Championship clubs followed the example of Sheffield Wednesday who made Steven Fletcher unavailable.

On the eve of the squad announcement Allan McGregor decided to retire from international football with Bournemouth and Cardiff City telling the SFA that Ryan Fraser and Callum Paterson wouldn’t be playing in Kazakhstan.

There have been no reports of call off’s from Tierney, Callum McGregor, James Forrest, Scott Bain, Oli Burke or Lewis Morgan.

Livingston keeper Liam Kelly has been called into the squad alongwith Stuart Findlay of Kilmarnock.
