Brendan Rodgers has responded to reports linking Lee Congerton with a move to Leicester City.

Last week after his overnight flit to the English club the Irishman took Chris Davies, Kolo Toure and Glen Driscoll to form the core of his backroom staff.

Congerton was the highest profile employee left behind with Rodgers waiting nine months before taking his old Chelsea colleague to Glasgow.

An end of season parting of the ways seems to be on the cards for the former Hamburg and Sunderland scout who is also apparently wanted by Anderlecht.

The success rate of Celtic’s recruitment over the last couple of transfer window’s has fallen sharply but under criticism in January Rodgers delivered a strong defence of Congerton.

Speaking today, ahead of Saturday’s game against Fulham, the Leicester boss told the Daily Record: “There’s always speculation because I brought Lee in to Celtic. Our relationship goes back a long way and he’s very good at what he does.

Eduardo (Marcia, current head of Recruitment at Leicester) is in position here. Lee is working at Celtic. There’s lots of speculation around, whether it’s staff or players. It’s not something that’s a focus for now.”

Marcia has been linked with an end of season move to Bordeaux.
