Scott Brown showed the serious side of his character when Leigh Griffiths was brought up at yesterday’s media conference.
The striker is expected to return to Lennoxtown today after almost four months away from football to deal with personal issues.
Brown and Griffiths have been part of the Edinburgh car pool, sharing their time and thoughts on the way to and from Lennoxtown as well as discussing the Hibs.
Earlier this week Celtic announced that the 28-year-old would be returning to a training programme sparking hopes that he might play a part in the final matches of the season.
There is a serious side to Brown and the responsibility of captaincy with the return of Griffiths a whole new experience for the midfielder to take on.
“We’re glad for Leigh,” Brown told BT Sport. “We just want to give him a lot of space and let him decide when he needs to come back. We don’t want to talk about him too much.
“We just want to make sure he’s OK, he’s happy and back in the place that he loves to be.”
No timetable has been put together for Griffiths with the realistic aim being that he is fully fit and prepared for the start of next season with European qualifiers beginning in the second week of July.
