Craig Thomson will referee Saturday’s SPFL clash between Celtic and Aberdeen.

The most experienced ref in Scotland will be refereeing back-to-back matches involving Derek McInnes’ side with his previous match the 2-2 home draw with St Mirren on February 16 with Thomson surprisingly left out of the Scottish Cup quarter-final matches.

Saturday’s match will be his fourth Celtic game of the season, earlier in the campaign he was in charge of the Betfred Cup win at Partick Thistle and the SPFL defeat at Kilmarnock, more recently he was in the middle for last month’s 2-0 home win over Hibs.

Before Celtic go into action Steven McLean will referee Friday’s match between Hibs and the club from Ibrox with Willie Collum’s absence from those fixtures extending now into four months.

Saturday’s match will see the homecoming of Neil Lennon but the Irishman won’t be getting caught up in any emotions with a title on the line.

Celtic have a 100% domestic record in 2019 that has opened up an eight point lead at the top of the SPFL and taken the hoops into the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup.
