Lewis Bell is set to make his debut for Arbroath at Dumbarton this afternoon.

The 19-year-old was out of contract with Celtic at the end of the season but left the hoops by mutual consent at the end of January.

Speaking to the Dundee Courier, Arbroath boss Dick Campbell said: “Colin Hamilton has damaged his metatarsal and we are still awaiting the results of the X-ray so he will definitely not play at Dumbarton.

There is a lot of bruising on his foot but hopefully it is not broken.

David Gold is doubtful with a hamstring strain so he will have a late fitness test along with Michael McKenna although Ryan Wallace will also be missing after picking up a knock against East Fife.

So I have brought in young defender Lewis Bell from Celtic and he will play as a trialist at Dumbarton.

To be honest, we have been fairly lucky with injuries all season but thankfully we are still 16 points clear.”

Bell joined Celtic from Hibs and was a key figure in the u-17 double winning side of 2015/16 with the highlight coming with a 4-0 win at Ibrox in the Glasgow Cup Final. That side included Mikey Johnston, Jack Aitchison and Ewan Henderson.

Last season he spent time out on loan at BSC Glasgow, at the start of this season he was in the Celtic side that beat Manchester United 2-1 in the Northern Ireland Super Cup.
