Celtic fans reacted with joy tonight as the club from Ibrox dropped two points by drawing with Hibs at Easter Road.

Given the chance to put pressure on Celtic ahead of the visit from Aberdeen Steven Gerrard’s side didn’t show the cutting edge to see off a Hibs side that were barely able to string a move together during the first hour of the match.

The visitors should have had the points secured and been eating into Celtic’s goal difference long before half time but reached the break just one goal in front thanks to a 41st minute effort from Daniel Candeias.

Hibs did start to impose themselves on the match but it was still a surprise when Florian Kamberi equalised in the 76th minute.

The remainder of the match was a bad tempered affair culminating in the second yellow card for Darren McGregor which resulted in more than a dozen players jostling with each other in the middle of the park.

Andy Halliday grazed the crossbar with the final kick of the ball but after 96 minutes Celtic’s lead was only trimmed by a point giving the hoops the chance to go 10 points clear by beating Aberdeen tomorrow.
