At the end of February Sevco fans could hardly contain their excitement as they saw Brendan Rodgers quit Celtic for Leicester City.

Not only had the hoops lost their seven-trophies-in-a-row manager but the manner of the departure and deception struck a nerve across the Celtic support. And surely the dressing room too.

Having watched the January euphoria created by the signings of Jermain Defoe and Steve Davis evaporate into an eight point deficit the loss of Rodgers brought renewed hope, especially with Celtic due at Tynecastle in the fall out with two Glasgow derbies still to come.

Adam has been putting himself forward all season for a move to Ibrox and was barely able to contain his excitement at the prospect of a Celtic collapse with two trophies heading for Ibrox.

Speaking about the departure of Rodgers he told talkSPORT: “The timing is the thing that Celtic fans will be disappointed with. They would’ve expected him to wait until the end of the season when another Treble looks on the cards.

Rangers will smell blood here. They’ll think, ‘Are the players focused? Is there a little bit of doubt in their minds?’

They might have an opportunity to get back into the title race and the Scottish Cup.

They’ve got a massive game in March and anything can happen.  At the moment, Celtic are eight points clear and they are clear favourites.”

With Aberdeen ending their hopes in the Scottish Cup it’s all of nothing for Gerrard’s side a week on Sunday when they face Celtic.

After four matches without a win morale is as low as hope, a few weeks ago Adam could smell blood, unfortunately for the Stoke midfielder another Ibrox post mortem is more likely than Celtic collapsing.
