Alex McLeish’s future will be decided today by the SFA.

On April 29 the Daily Record claimed that the Scotland boss would be sacked within 24 hours but while the timescale was wrong the outcome seems inevitable.

Following that report the SFA briefed that they had no plans to speak to McLeish but there was no commitment to the international boss or outright denial that his job was on the line.

This morning The Sun reports:

SCOTLAND manager Alex McLeish is braced for the sack.

The SFA board are set to decide his fate at a crunch Hampden summit.

Scotland’s dismal 3-0 defeat against Kazakhstan is at the centre of the criticism but the initial Record report also made reference to a ‘deeply troubling episode’ in the build up to the match with San Marino three days later.

Under fire for the defeat in Kazakhstan, McLeish dropped Celtic duo James Forrest and Oli Burke for the win over San Marino although the introduction of Forrest late in the match led to the second goal scored by Johnny Russell.

Today’s meeting is the scheduled one of the Scottish FA board which includes President Alan McRae, SPFL Chief Executive Neil Doncaster and SFA Chief Executive Ian Maxwell.

There is no set formula to the meetings but with the two leading newspapers in the country expecting a dismissal some sort of announcement will be expected today from Hampden.
