Kieran Tierney will see a specialist this week to assess his recurring pelvic and pubic problem.

The defender was forced out of action in the middle of December before returning to face Motherwell on February 24 in what turned out to be Brendan Rodgers’ final match in charge of Celtic.

Speaking during Scotland’s trip to Kazakhstan last month Tierney laughed off suggestions that he had a hip problem similar to Andy Murray revealing that rest was the only cure for the problem.

The 21-year-old has played eight matches since returning from injury but was missing from the Celtic side that drew 0-0 with Hibs today.

Reporting on Neil Lennon’s pre-match interview with Sky Sports The Sun said:

He’s a bit sore. He’s going to see a specialist this week and we’ll get a sort of clearer indication as to where he is with it.

He may require surgery but we’re trying to hold that off until the end of the season.

Emilio Izaguirre replaced Tierney today with Jonny Hayes another option to play at left-back.

With Dedryck Boyata, Jack Hendry and Ryan Christie all ruled out for the remainder of the season Lennon will be anxious to find a way to get a couple more appearances out of his first choice left-back.

Celtic have already indicated that Tierney will require additional rest during the close season ruling him out of Scotland’s matches against Cyprus and Belgium on June 8 and 12.
