Four years ago a fairly routine tweet marked the arrival of a major talent in the Scottish game.

An end of season 2-1 win over Dundee allowed Ronny Deila to give a debut to Kieran Tierney, less than four months after he had suffered a broken ankle in training.

KT had played a couple of Development League matches, 10 minutes at Dens Park was followed by a starting slot in a 0-0 draw at St Johnstone but it was at the start of the 2015/16 season that he started to make his mark.

Tyler Blackett was brought in on loan to provide cover for Emilio Izaguirre but he failed to live up to his Manchester United billing.

The crunch came after the Honduran was sent off against Ajax in the opening Europa League fixture leaving a vacancy for Matchday 2.

Tierney was given his chance, excelled despite Celtic throwing away a 2-0 lead over Fenerbahce and never looked back. By the end of the season he had clocked up 34 appearances and made a serious contribution to winning the title.

This week he’ll find out if he will need surgery of a pelvic and pubic condition that has blighted his season.

Having KT back next season, fully fit and rested is more important than getting him through a couple of games in the remainder of this season.

Four years on from his low key debut there is plenty more for the bhoy from Wishaw to enjoy pain free in a Celtic jersey.
