Celtic fans have backed Chris Sutton’s view that Neil Lennon will have to be backed in the transfer market if he is to take on the Celtic job on a permanent basis.
Three near disastrous transfer windows have added little to the Celtic squad with the Invincible Squad of 2016/17 still providing the backbone of the season’s push for a Treble Treble.
Lennon has already highlighted the need for an overhaul but after taking over from Brendan Rodgers at the end of February his influence, so far, has been limited.
Last summer Celtic did break their transfer record to sped £9m on Odsonne Edouard but that was virtually balanced out by the sales of Stuart Armstrong and Erik Sviatchenko.
The sale of Moussa Dembele created a £20m profit but a gap in the forward line that was compounded by the problems that Leigh Griffiths has suffered from.
Lennon is well aware of those issues and the importance of reaching the group phase of the Champions League which provides a £30m plus boost to turnover as well as increasing the value of the playing squad.
Whoever is in charge for the first qualifier on July 9 or 10 will need backed with Sutton still to be convinced that Celtic will reinvest some of the £30m gaining interest in their bank account.
Good morning…My @Record_Sport thoughts on why if he’s not given the resources and guarantees Neil Lennon could and should walk away from the Celtic job…your thoughts?? https://t.co/yUuR51R1im

Very good article Chris. Very difficult to disagree with any of the points you make. Only thing I’d say is that Lenny has to spend any money very wisely we can’t afford any more Marvin Comper’s on the payroll. And he has to make them get shot of Congleton who’s been just useless.

Why are they messing Neil lennon about give him the funds to rebuild the team he knows the club inside out

A don’t think it’s a massive rebuilding job…
The resources required are 2 big strikers for teams camping in their own half, we have width in abundance, svhed will be arriving and looks amazing????
Boyata and lustig need replaced????
Quality over quantity ????

My thoughts exactly. Lenny will take us to the 10 but board need to back him and back him good. We failed this season to get the CL group stages and the board should know that for a club like Celtic it’s not good https://t.co/KKxhkKaoLm more prospects it’s the here and now.

I think who ever gets the job needs to get the cash to bring in talent for Europe. Who ever get the job needs money to strengthen the squad for Europe. Lenny would be a mug t stay if he never got the cash or guarantees. That’s why he left last time. We need t spend t accumulate

Word for word perfect ???????? people taking him for granted just now, we’ll be lucky to get him for 10IAR ??

Spot on Neil had a shaky period but after the rangers and Aberdeen game a think that corners been turned.. fact is us fans will demand the funds in order to secure the holy grail and continue to a historic double 9iar and then a record breaking 10iar no matter who’s at the helm
