Inter Milan have passed on their sympathy to the family of Stevie Chalmers following the death of the Lisbon Lion.
Fifty two years ago the Italian giants were unlocked in the closing minutes of the European Cup Final in a landmark victory.
Our deepest sympathies are with the friends and family of Stevie Chalmers, a @CelticFC legend who scored the Lisbon Lions’ winner in the 1967 European Cup final. https://t.co/XTPFAb7HMt

Inter have acted with nothing but class and respect down the years with strong ties remaining between the two clubs and that generation of players.
The stats from the match were overwhelmingly in Celtic’s favour but despite their defensive reputation Inter kept within the rules of the game as they attempted to hold their opponents at bay. Later in 67 Racing Club simply booted out at anyone in green and white.
Chalmers scored another 221 goals during his Celtic career making him the fourth most prolific scorer in the club’s history behind Jimmy McGrory, Bobby Lennox and Henrik Larsson.
Tributes have come in from clubs large and small including junior side St Roch and also from Greenock Morton and Partick Thistle.
