Neil Lennon is in the dark about Dedryck Boyata joining Hertha Berlin.

Overnight, reports in the German media suggested that a deal was close to completion for the defender who is out of contract at the end of the season.

Boyata is free to sign a pre-contract deal elsewhere but so far Lennon has yet to be informed of any fresh developments.

I’m not aware of that,” he told The Sun about reports that a deal was nearly completed.

Dedryck was at the game today. I wouldn’t be surprised if there is interest in him but we are still hopeful that we can persuade him to stay, which would be great for everyone.”

Boyata tore a hamstring during last week’s Glasgow derby and is unlikely to play for the hoops again this season. With his four year contract completed at the end of June it’s unlikely that he will be back at Celtic for pre-season training.

Kris Ajer, Jozo Simunovic and Filip Benkovic formed a three man defence today in Celtic’s 0-0 draw with Livingston.

With Benkovic returning to Leicester at the end of the season Celtic will only have two recognised first team central defenders moving forward with Marvin Compper and Jack Hendry only managing 30 minutes of first team football in 2019.
