Neil Lennon has revealed that he doesn’t expect to see Dedryck Boyata play again this season.

The defender tore a hamstring muscle during Sunday’s Glasgow derby success forcing Celtic to play the last 20 minutes down to 10 men.

Kris Ajer was joined by Jozo Simunovic for last night’s win over St Mirren with Filip Benkovic coming on midway through the second half as a substitute.

Boyata had played in nine consecutive matches going into the Glasgow derby but speaking to BT Sport before the win over St Mirren Lennon had bleak news on the defender.

β€œIn terms of Dedryck, it’s a bad one, it’s likely he’ll be out for the season,” the Daily Record reported.

Since taking over from Brendan Rodgers as caretaker boss Lennon has had a number of injuries to contend with but that issue seems to be clearing.

Tom Rogic and Olivier Ntcham both featured in the derby day success while Benkovic and Ryan Christie made substitute appearances in the win over St Mirren.

Boyata is out of contract at the end of this season and expected to leave Celtic.
