Davie Provan has warmed Clare Whyte to cancel her summer holidays after the ridiculous trumped up charge given to Scott Brown.

‘Failing to act in the best interests of Scottish football’ was the archaic charge dredged up by the SFA Compliance Officer in order to ensure that the argument that both sides are as bad as each other held firm.

Throwing a punch at an opponent while the game has stopped only warrants a two match suspension according to the SFA as their conflicts and contradictions are fully exposed.

Writing in The Sun Provan explains:

Brown must have been pinching himself post-match. He’s managed to get Gers’ biggest threat sent off, helping Celts to the points and an eighth successive title.

For a boy whose legs are in sharp decline, it was a good day’s work for the skipper.

That the 33-year-old is still able to lord it in Scotland says much about the current standard.

As for his antics at full-time?

If holding your arms up in triumph after winning a big game is an offence, the SFA’s compliance officer Clare Whyte had better cancel her holidays.

Having already cited Ryan Kent, the Brown summons is an SFA attempt to even things up. Put your money on Celtic’s legal team getting Brown off the hook.

Typical of the SFA’s approach to justice and discipline Brown’s case will wait a month to be heard, for reasons best known to themselves May 2 is the date for the Celtic skipper to face the music at Hampden.

There are plenty of grounds to trash the charge made against Brown but hopefully the SFA will pick up the costs of Celtic’s legal team which should make them think carefully ahead of any future attempts at evening things up.
