The SPFL Reserve League should be heading for a final day shoot out with one pair of fixtures remaining.

The top two clubs are level on points going into their final matches, Celtic face St Johnstone, the club from Ibrox will play Falkirk.

With a three goal advantage in terms of goal difference Graeme Murty’s side are strong favourites to lift the trophy.

It could have been the scene for a minor drama, twitter coverage from both matches keeping fans upto date, there might even by some AS IT STANDS league tables.

Unbelievably the SPFL have scheduled the two matches for different days!

On Friday May 3 Celtic will play St Johnstone at Lennoxtown with the match kicking off at 2pm.

Three days later at a venue and time still to be announced Murty’s side will play Falkirk at a time and venue still to be announced.

Since Austria and West Germany stitched things up at the 1982 World Cup in Spain to squeeze out Algeria it has been accepted practise that in these circumstances decisive games are played simultaneously.

Except for viewers in Scotland of course.
