‘Absolute class’ ‘Great wee prospect’ Celtic fans thrilled by the new Dembele

Karamoko Dembele was the name that everyone was talking about after Celtic completed their SPFL campaign with a 2-1 win over Hearts.

Paul McStay handed the trophy over to Scott Brown after a double from Mikey Johnston had sunk the Edinburgh side that face Celtic in the Scottish Cup Final next Saturday.

Johnston got Celtic off to a perfect start with a second minute goal but Hearts replied through Jake Mulreaney to send the sides in level at half time.

Oli Burke remained in the dressing room as Dembele ran on to a great ovation and didn’t disappoint with a dazzling display that lifted the stadium and the team.

From his first touch he was bright, alert and brave, in tune with his team-mates and eager to make his mark on the game.

All of a sudden Celtic had a fresh attacking option with the 16-year-old living up to the hype that has surrounded him since he left primary school.

Neil Lennon has been keen to introduce Dembele for a couple of weeks with today’s performance a marker for the future.

It remains to be seen if the 16-year-old will be part of the squad for the Scottish Cup Final next weekend but on today’s showing he might just earned a place on the bench at Hampden.
