Tam McManus was forced into an explanation after a cryptic tweet was taken by many to be referring to Leigh Griffiths.
The BBC pundit enjoys winding followers up on Twitter, calling upon his links to a number of clubs most noticeably Hibs where he was once a team-mate of Scott Brown and Derek Riordan.
One tweet earlier today, accompanied by a thumbs down emoji was interpreted by many as a reference to Griffiths who hasn’t played football since early December.
Many twitter users took McManus to task with the Celtic striker taking to twitter soon afterwards with his own defiant message about his comeback.
With three weekends left to go this season, involving a Glasgow derby and two matches against Hearts the spotlight is on Griffiths while others continue to speculate about the reasons why he took a break from football in mid season.
As well as his BBC duties McManus writes a column for the Football Scotland website.
What a criminal waste of talent. ????????

People putting 2 + 2 together and getting 5. Nothing to do with Leigh Griffiths. The person knows who it is and hopefully gets a rocket up their arse after reading it ????????
