Rekeem Harper was given the VIP treatment for Celtic’s Trophy Day Presentation against Hearts on Sunday.

According to reports in the Daily Mail and in the Daily Record the West Brom midfielder is available for a cross border development fee similar to the deal that brought Moussa Dembele to Celtic in 2016.

Harper has been capped by England at u-17 and u-19 level and started 19 matches in the season just finished including 45 minutes as a substitute in West Brom’s play-off defeat against Aston Villa which was watched by Neil Lennon.

West Brom have serious financial problems ahead after failing to win an automatic return to the EPL with caretaker boss James Shan in a similar position to Neil Lennon after taking over from Darren Moore at the start of March.

The Daily Mail reports:

And Sportsmail has learned that Harper and his representatives were in Glasgow to watch Sunday’s win over Hearts and the presentation of the SPFL trophy after a VIP tour of the club.

Tracked by Celtic’s head of recruitment Lee Congerton before his recent departure for Leicester City the former England under-19 international is out of contract this summer.

Both Tottenham and Norwich City are interested while West Brom confirmed on their official website that they have made a second and final contract offer to the youngster.

With his contract about to expire more than just two EPL clubs are likely to be considering a move for Harper.

The 19-year-old will have to decide whether to accept what is likely to be a more lucrative deal to stay in England or whether to take the ‘Dembele option’ that would give him a realistic chance of playing Champions League football to accelerate his career.

Dembele was well paid by Celtic but after two seasons decided to move to Lyon and has been strongly linked with a move to Manchester United after just one season with the French side.
