Alfredo Morelos has been left out of Colombia’s preliminary squad to take part in Copa America next summer.
Carlos Queiroz has named 11 strikers but there is no place in the squad for the Ibrox goal scoring ace.
Morelos did produce a world class pass during the closing minutes of a friendly in March but that wasn’t enough to earn him a place ahead of strikers from clubs across Europe, South and Central America even though he was pictured close to Radamel Falcao at the kit launch.
Almost since the day that he arrived at Ibrox the 23-year-old has been tipped/punted for a big money move but outside of Scotland interest seems to be limited.
Two goals in the Europa League group phase against Rapid Vienna has barely registered elsewhere while four red cards in eight months and a failure to score against Celtic has put off any clubs picking up on the hype.
With losses expected to reach eight figures for the year and compensation reaching a similar amount expected by Sports Direct selling Morelos for £20m would be the perfect solution to the cash crisis at Ibrox but the 12th best Colombian striker is unlikely to fetch that sort of fee.
