Kerr McInroy is facing a lengthy spell out of football after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament.

The midfielder underwent surgery last week and will shortly begin the long recuperation process.

McInroy suffered the injury during the 3-1 Reserve League win over Motherwell in a straight forward challenge for the ball.

After a couple of minutes of treatment he was substituted with the extent of the injury coming up in a scan.

The young Fifer has captained Celtic this season in the Reserve League after becoming a regular in central midfield last season.

Since the turn of the year he has scored a couple of eye catching goals that even drew some Pirlo comparisons.

Rather than trying to push his way into the first team he now has to concentrate on his fitness and the long recovery knowing that he won’t play again in 2019.
