‘Fined for having your own players assaulted’ ‘Absolute joke’ Celtic fans react to SFA fine

Celtic fans reacted with a mixture of disbelief and anger to the news that their club had been fined £7,500 following their victory in the March Glasgow derby.

It looks very much like that famous old argument that one is as bad as the other as the SFA reacted to the confrontation at the final whistle.

Television coverage of the incident is clear with Andy Halliday racing across the pitch to confront Scott Brown with half a dozen of his Ibrox team-mates joining in.

Scott Bain and Mikael Lustig came to the assistance of their captain with the Swede grounded by the tag team approach of their city rivals.

In the week following the match Ryan Kent, Andy Halliday and Steven Gerrard were all hit with suspensions before the SFA decided to try a charge of ‘not acting in the best interests of Association Football’ on Scott Brown.

On Friday leading sports QC Nick de Marco successfully had that charge dismissed but tonight the SFA have came back with another attempt to tarnish Celtic’s reputation.

After the match Neil Lennon congratulated his players on the restraint they showed despite the attacks aimed at their captain.
