John Hartson has quickly put the result of the Glasgow derby in perspective.

It wasn’t a play-off, it wasn’t a marker for next season, it was an end of season derby with the league title already decided.

Most Celtic fans were shocked at how poorly their side played, many were puzzled by the formation and questioned the commitment and attitude of many players.

If anything it was a strong warning about the lack of quality delivered this season although drawing comparisons with the 2016 Scottish Cup semi-final defeat is going overboard.

Underlining all of the assessments is the issue of manager, there’s no doubt that the result and performance won’t have done Neil Lennon any favours.

Whatever happens at the end of the season in relation to the manager’s job it has to be remembered and respected that Lennon stepped in as caretaker at the most difficult of times.

He could have opted out, said that he needed a longer break after leaving Hibs, concentrated on building up some media work but when the call went out he came to Celtic’s rescue and delivered title number eight.
