Neil Lennon has explained why he avoids social media.

Over the last couple of weeks the caretaker Celtic boss has had to answer questions about Leigh Griffiths being on the brink of having his contract cancelled, yesterday the fervour was over a fake notice claiming that Glasgow City Council were closing London Road on Monday afternoon, presumably to cope with the crowds to greet the next Celtic boss.

Lennon has lived through every eventuality that Glasgow can throw up and enjoyed a spell fire fighting during the early days of his first spell as Celtic manager.

While trying to guide Celtic to a Treble Treble there has been almost daily speculation about who will be getting the job on a permanent basis with the Irishman shrugging it all aside.

I’ve also learned not to engage in false news, noise, rumours, all that stuff,” he told the Daily Record. “There is a lot of that in this day and age and I’m not on that stuff at all.

I quit Twitter years ago and all the other stuff because it’s just not important any more. It’s not real. There are things on there that can be interesting and there are things on there that are really not appropriate and personal.

Again, you can’t take offence to it because people are voicing their opinions, but it’s not really pertinent to me because it’s not really important. I feel good because I’ve come in and basically done the job I’ve been entrusted to do.”

As soon as the final whistle blows at Hampden on Saturday the speculation over who will be the next Celtic boss will intensify.

Lennon will fly out to Marbella for a short break leaving the attention on the Celtic board to make an appointment, three months after Brendan Rodgers left for Leicester.
