Neil Lennon has confirmed that Celtic have activated the 12 month option in Scott Sinclair’s contract.

The goal scoring winger was one of the driving forces behind Celtic’s Invincible season success but has struggled to get a starting place in recent weeks despite scoring 11 goals since Christmas.

Sinclair is believed to be one of Celtic’s biggest earners with the contract extension likely to be on his existing terms.

From today’s media conference the Daily Record reports Lennon saying:

Yes, so Scott will be here for another year. He has been a good player since he walked in the door.

He has made a big contribution in the goals column and that football intelligence and experience is always important to have around. It’s a big boost for the squad.

The first news of Sinclair’s contract extension appeared at tea time yesterday on The Sun alongside a story that Middlesbrough were preparing a £2m move.

Sinclair, who turned 30 in March, has scored 60 goals for Celtic spread over three seasons faces a major battle for a place next season under new management.

Lewis Morgan returns from his loan deal at Sunderland, new signing Maryan Shved joins the club while Daniel Arzani is on course to return from injury.
