Derek McInnes has warned his Aberdeen players not to see red in tomorrow’s clash with Celtic.

Last month at Hampden Dom Ball and Lewis Ferguson were sent off in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup as Celtic raced to a 3-0 victory despite the hype that the Dons took to Hampden.

Both of those players will be in McInnes’ side at Pittodrie tomorrow with the stakes almost as high as Celtic look for the point that will clinch them the SPFL title

No matter what happens in the game, you want the players to show calmness and focus on the job in hand,” the Aberdeen boss told The Sun.

Whatever the game throws up, hopefully it’s a smart performance from us. At this stage of the season, there is a lot more on games.

The Rangers match last week is always a high-energy game with a spotlight on that. Celtic is another game with the same spotlight but it’s important for everybody to remain calm.

It’s important for officials and players, and managers, to keep that restraint and just concentrate on the job in hand.”

Andy Considine is suspended after picking up a red card in last week’s 2-0 defeat at Ibrox with Celtic heading north looking for their fifth successive win at Pittodrie.

In December the hoops hit top form as they overcame the hosts and an incredible display from referee Willie Collum that saw the home side awarded two penalties in a 4-3 defeat.

Tomorrow’s match will be refereed by John Beaton, after the Glasgow derby in December Celtic called for a public explanation of the referee’s performance after Alfredo Morelos went unpunished following attacks on Ryan Christie, Scott Brown and Tony Ralston.
