Cristian Gamboa is a transfer target for Danish side FC Copenhagen according to a report in The Sun.
The defender is out of contract with Celtic next month and has already said farewell to his team-mates.
Gamboa spent three seasons in Glasgow but after an impressive first season as deputy to Mikael Lustig failed to put the Swede under any real pressure with his decision to play in the 2017 Gold Cup rather than in Celtic’s Champions League qualifiers working against him.
Getting a 29-year-old with 70 international caps and experience of playing in two World Cup Finals seems an attractive prospect but at Celtic Gamboa was often exposed defensively.
It had been expected that he would return to Costa Rica or look for a club in the MLS but the prospect of a new deal in Europe is bound to be worth considering after stints in Norway, England and Scotland.
Fellow defenders Mikael Lustig and Emilio Izaguirre are also out of contract next month with no sign yet that they will agree new contracts.
