The small matter of a concert in Cork prevented Rod Stewart from being at Hampden on Saturday but the events in Glasgow weren’t far from his thoughts.

A Saturday evening concert in Cork is certain to be a winner, when you add in a Treble Treble celebration it’s bound to be extra special.

Stewart has written and sung hundreds of songs during over 50 years on the road but one song reveals the depth of his support for Celtic.

‘You’re in my heart’ was released in 1977 and is as meaningful and popular as ever today with some extra meaning on Saturday night.

As he reached the end of the song the screen behind showed clips of Celtic’s Hampden celebrations followed by images of the Lisbon Lions, Billy McNeill and Stevie Chalmers followed by local bhoy Liam Miller who lost his battle with cancer last year.

Miller left Celtic for Manchester United in 2004, the two clubs mentioned in the song from the seventies.
