The Ibrox fans’ song about the Lisbon Lions has finally gone mainstream.
For almost two years sick supporters have been chanting their joy about how the ‘Lisbon Lions won’t see ten-in-a-row’. Not a word has been said by the club, any newspaper or broadcaster.
The recent deaths of Billy McNeill and Stevie Chalmers has brought an outbreak of mourning and national recognition for the brilliance of Jock Stein’s side and the nature of the locally raised heroes that created history.
That of course hasn’t made the slightest impact on thousands of fans at Ibrox, their chant was clearly heard during last weeks live televised match against Hibs which took place in-between the funerals of the two Lions.
It took a tweet from Tam McManus to highlight the song which the online edition of The Sun picked up on.
Rangers thoroughly deserve to win this game been miles better than Celtic. MILES. The Rangers fans singing about the Lisbon Lions though after the last week or two is an absolute fucking disgrace though. Total lack of class.
