Jozo Simunovic is a transfer target for Alaves.
According to a report in The Sun the Spanish side are preparing a £4m bid for the central defender.
Simunovic has struggled to put together a consistent run in the Celtic side since signing from Dinamo Zagreb in 2015 as a replacement for Virgil van Dijk.
The Sun reports:
ALAVES want to sign Celtic defender Jozo Simunovic.
The injury-plagued 24-year-old is under contract until 2021 and would cost around the Spanish club around £4million.
That fee would recoup Celtic’s original outlay on the 24-year-old but any deal would be dependent on the appointment of a new manager and bringing in a replacement.
As things stand Simunovic, Kris Ajer and Jack Hendry are the only central defenders with first team experience that will report back for pre-season training.
With Ajer involved in international matches on June 7 and 10 his availability for Celtic’s opening Champions League qualifier on July 9/10 must be in doubt.
Simunovic is enjoying his best run in the Celtic side but in four seasons at the club he has only started 64 SPFL matches.
