The McNeill family are all set for Hampden and another emotional day.

Last month Celtic’s greatest ever captain lost his battle with dementia, followed soon after by Lisbon team-mate Stevie Chalmers.

When the fixture list was announced at the start of the season the date of the Scottish Cup Final stood out- 52 years on from Lisbon- with the hoops navigating through a dramatic season to stand one match away from a Treble Treble.

As soon as Celtic overcame Aberdeen in the semi-final the significance of the final date was obvious, following the deaths of two Lions the club announced their plans to celebrate the men.

The names McNeill and Chalmers have been added to the Celtic tracksuit while the players will have a 5 on the front of their shorts and a 9 on the back.

Before the kick off the Green Brigade have arranged a tifo display in honour of both men.

As well as starring together in Lisbon, McNeill and Chalmers both scored in the 1969 Scottish Cup Final when Jock Stein’s side hammered the club from Ibrox 4-0.
