As Celtic celebrate their eighth successive title win one of the strangest ‘careers’ during that period of domination is about to end.

Scott Allan has started two league matches during his Celtic career and came off the bench 11 times.

During his four seasons at the club he has enjoyed much more game time with Rotherham, Hibs and Dundee, ironically his current Celtic manager set up his departure as the midfielder prepares for a third stint at Hibs.

Allan has said very little during his Celtic career, it started off in bizarre fashion in the summer of 2015 with only his autobiography likely to shine any light on what happened leading up to his £300,000 transfer and the mystery that followed.

The 27-year-old has been restricted to just three Reserve League appearances this season but great things are expected of him next season back at Hibs.

We spoke to Scott a couple of times on the phone but I thought it was important that we arrange to meet up,” Paul Heckingbottom told the Daily Record.

He knows the club and everything about the place but he doesn’t know me and Robbie. He was signed before we came in so I thought it was really important to put his mind at ease about where we see him.

We are looking forward to getting him in and getting him working – Scott is exactly the same. He says he has never looked forward to a pre-season as much in his life! That’s good – we’ve got a hungry player there.”
