Kieran Tierney has denied that he has put his future in jeopardy by delaying a hernia operation until after the Scottish Cup Final.

The defender has been in and out of the Celtic side since the middle of December with reports of various injuries causing problems.

Tierney made the starting line up for Celtic’s title clincher away to Aberdeen but has missed the last two matches to ensure that he would be available for Saturday’s Hampden clash.

After the cup final against Hearts he will go under the knife but despite the concerns of some fans KT insists that no lasting damage has been done.

He told The Sun:

The only cure to remove the pain is to get the operation, so until that happens I’ll still be going through the pain.

Most people will say I’ve played too many games, but lots of people who haven’t played 170 games have ended up with double hernias, so you can’t just blame it on a lot of games.

Maybe it’s a factor, but in all the games I’ve played I’ve felt great. I’ve not been struggling with injury.

Obviously since this it’s been a bit sore. Maybe it’s different surfaces, different grounds. You never know. I push myself for every single game, I want to play every game.

This is another massive game on Saturday and I’d be gutted to miss it, but as long as Celtic win that’s the main thing.

Tierney took part in training on Tuesday and Wednesday with Oli Burke the main injury concern for Neil Lennon.

James Forrest, Scott Brown and Odsonne Edouard all missed out on Sunday’s 2-1 win over Hearts but have recovered and are likely to be in the starting XI at Hampden.
