Sports Direct International are back in court tomorrow as they look to get their damages claim against Dave King’s company settled.

Two years ago the South African based businessman claimed victory in the long running retail dispute but when the club accounts were published it was revealed that £3m had been paid to get out on one contract and set up a fresh deal with the sportwear giant.

Last summer SDI stepped in to halt the launch of new kit supplied by Hummel which finally surfaced online in September with a shop opening in Glasgow city centre in December.

SDI waited until season ticket money started to filter in before returning to claim for damages and legal costs with a further court appearance scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.

John James has kept a close eye on developments and published details of the latest legal moves.

SDI could be in line for upto £10m in damages which would seriously impact on King whose company posted losses of £14.9m for the year to 30 June 2018.

With SDI likely to regain control of merchandise Steven Gerrard could be forced to budget for next season on ticket money only minus the compensation paid to SDI for their losses this season.
