Chris Sutton spent time interviewing Neil Lennon this week and is none the wiser at to who will be Celtic manager in a week’s time.

Together under Martin O’Neill the two men took Celtic to glory alongside other warriors such as Henrik Larsson, Alan Thompson, Jackie McNamara, Johan Mjallby and Paul Lambert.

Men that did everything to drive Celtic towards success and who trusted each other without question.

Even after going their separate ways that group of players are still in touch, still supportive and looking for Celtic to reach new heights.

Sutton has the highest profile of them all with his views from BT Sport, Daily Record, Twitter and 5 Live hard to escape, today he’ll be wearing a Premier Sports hat at Hampden in what could be his former team-mates last match in charge, or maybe not.

Discussing Lennon’s situation in the Daily Record he explained:

If he knows what is going on with his future, then I’d want him in my poker team.

I sat with him on Thursday to do an interview ahead of this Final and he never cracked a light. I genuinely believe he doesn’t know himself and I find that strange in itself.

In fact, it actually leads me to think the Celtic hierarchy do not really trust him.

Lennon was available in their time of need when Brendan Rodgers left. He was out of work, available and willing to step in at a second’s notice

But, surely, if Celtic really valued his skills, they would have appointed him on a full-time basis by now.

Lennon is scheduled to take a short break in Marbella next week.
