Celtic have been hit with an SFA fine for having their players attacked at the end of the March Glasgow derby.

Last week the hoops went to the expense of bringing in Nick de Marco to defend Scott Brown against the bizarre charge of ‘not acting in the best interests of Scottish football’ with the London based QC getting the case thrown out.

In their latest attempt to balance things out both clubs have been fined the same amount despite vastly different disciplinary performances on the day.

Alfredo Morelos, Andy Halliday, Ryan Kent and Steven Gerrard all served suspensions on the back of their actions during the match which saw half a dozen players round on Brown as he celebrated at the final whistle.

BBC Scotland reported:

Celtic and Rangers have each been fined £7,500 for a mass confrontation at the end of their Old Firm derby in March.

Rangers pair Alfredo Morelos and Andy Halliday were shown red cards during their side’s 2-1 defeat at Celtic Park.

Trouble started on the pitch after the game as the reigning champions extended their Scottish Premiership lead.

After the match Neil Lennon complimented his players for retaining their discipline throughout the match in which all four match officials failed to notice Kent punch Brown in the face in the centre circle shortly after James Forrest scored the winning goal.
