Josh Windass has admitted that he had little influence on Dedryck Boyata’s decision to quit Celtic for Hertha Berlin.

Yesterday the Bundesliga outfit confirmed the signing of the defender, bringing an end to a four year, four titles stay in Glasgow.

Windass watched Celtic belt in 29 goals during two years of Glasgow derby action during which he scored once in reply after a slip up by Boyata last season at Ibrox.

Celtic went on to win that game 3-2 which was quickly followed by a 4-0 win at Hampden and 5-0 title clincher at Celtic Park.

Windass quit Ibrox last summer for Wigan where he helped his new club to avoid relegation from the Championship.

Boyata’s final season at Celtic was certainly dramatic with his agent demanding talks with Brendan Rodgers to secure a £9m transfer to Fulham which was followed by a stand off that saw the defender sit out a Champions League qualifier away to AEK Athens.
