One Celtic fan was quick off the mark when a leading Scottish newspaper revealed that Jordan Rossiter had been told to find a new club.

What could be newer than a club formed in 2012 that has gallantly battled it’s way through the lower divisions into the top flight to finish in second place behind the eight times champions?

Mark Warburton signed Rossiter in a blaze of glory in the summer of 2016 with all the predictable hype about ‘the next Steven Gerrard’ overlooking the fact that if he was any good he would have been given a new contract by Liverpool.

Over the course of three seasons he made a dozen first team appearances before being sent on loan to Bury in January where he was a regular in the side that won promotion back to League One.

Rossiter has a year left to run on his Ibrox contract, unless he gets offered similar terms elsewhere he’s likely to stay around for the season or negotiate a pay off for the remainder of his deal.
