Celtic fans were far from impressed by the report of a £5m bid for Scott McKenna- and grateful that Aberdeen are holding out for double that figure.

The 22-year-old was a surprise transfer target last summer during the Dedryck Boyata stand-off but after two bids were rejected it seemed unlikely that the hoops would go back in with another bid.

Aston Villa were reported to have had a £6m bid rejected towards the end of the transfer window with McKenna going on to have no more than an average season highlighted by running battles with Alfredo Morelos.

Against Celtic in October he escaped punishment for a brutal attack on Odsonne Edouard that was missed by Bobby Madden, fortunately the SFA Compliance Officer handed out a retrospective two match ban.

In Scotland colours McKenna looked nothing special although it would be unfair to put too much emphasis on his display against Romelu Lukaku as Scotland finished the season on the end of a 3-0 chasing from Belgium in Brussels.

There were a few voices in support of signing McKenna but as the signing of David Turnbull is almost completed it seems like another mini-saga is about to kick off.
