Andrew Dallas has resigned from the elite FIFA list- almost certainly ahead of being dropped.

A place on the FIFA list provides plenty of lucrative international appointments including Additional Assistant Referee in Champions League fixtures.

As well as international appointments being on the FIFA list ensures the most high profile domestic appointments which will now end.

Dallas appeared on the FIFA list before he had even taken charge of a match involving Celtic with everyone in the Scottish game aware that his fast tracking had more to do with his father’s influence than his ability to take charge of matches.

In December he was put in charge of the Betfred Cup Final between Celtic and Aberdeen and proceeded to give a typically erratic display with seven yellow cards issued.

His most controversial display was at Ibrox in February when he awarded the home side four penalties against St Mirren, earlier in the season when Steven Gerrard’s side were drawing 1-1 at Hamilton Dallas awarded two penalties to the visitors in the last 10 minutes.

Rather than getting the high profile televised matches Dallas can look forward to more trips to St Johnstone, Ross County and St Mirren next season.

Just before the end of the season Craig Thomson announced his retirement from refereeing.
