The David Turnbull transfer saga took yet another fresh turn last night when at around 10.30pm a number of publishers revealed that he was expected to sign for Celtic today.

Over the last 10 days negotiations have been carried out in a very public fashion, beginning with Motherwell’s decision to make a statement after accepting a bid from Celtic for the midfielder.

Two days later Celtic announced on Twitter that the deal had stalled, on Tuesday evening it was reported that the hoops had pulled out of negotiations, later that night the Daily Record reported that Turnbull was set to join Norwich after they had agreed a deal with the midfielder. There was no further statement from Motherwell.

Now BBC Scotland are reporting that Celtic went back in with a NEW offer:

Norwich were favourites to capture the midfielder due to Celtic pulling out as both parties failed to agree terms.

But despite the 19-year-old travelling to Carrow Road on Wednesday, BBC Scotland has learned the Glasgow side have made a new and successful offer. Both clubs have had fees worth £3.25m accepted by the Fir Park board.

The deal between Celtic and the Motherwell starlet seemed dead in the water on Tuesday, with the treble treble winners stepping back as the Premier League newcomers swooped in.

If the overnight reports are correct Turnbull should be confirmed as a Celtic player later today with the story behind the story creating more interest than the £3m Scottish teenager.

Since their tweets on Friday there has been no official comment from Celtic, after trying to put the jigsaw together Celtic fans will be hoping that Turnbull is worth the troubles that they have been put through over the last fortnight since interest first emerged.
