Celtic face competition from Manchester City for the signing if Jose Cifuentes.

The midfielder impressed playing for Ecuador during the u-20 World Cup in Poland and is expected to move to Europe in the summer.

The Sun reports:

CELTIC are battling Man City for £2.5m Ecuador wonderkid Jose Cifuentes. Hoops boss Neil Lennon is looking to strengthen the midfield area — and 20-year-old Ecuadorian Cifuentes is on his radar.

With David Turnbull about to complete his move to Celtic the hoops are well served for midfielders unless there is a queue of players about to move on.

Olivier Ntcham appears to be a target for a number of continental clubs while Leicester have been credited with interest in Callum McGregor and Tom Rogic.

The story has been put together by Alan Nixon who has strong contacts with a number of English based agents. In April he linked Graham Potter with the Celtic manager’s job, a month later he was appointed as manager of Brighton.

Cifuentes is under contract with CD America until November after moving there from University Catolica in January 2018.
